After 18 months of planning I flew to the beautiful island of Jeju, Korea this March to be the Choral Director of a FOBISIA Choral Festival, hosted by Head of Music Jemma Morrell and the North London Collegiate School, Jeju (for those not in the know, FOBISIA is a regional federation of the leading British international schools in Asia - www.fobisia.org).
120 singers aged 11-17 from Malaysia, China, Philippines, Taiwan and Korea got together to put on a show in just 48 hours, give or take. It was a great experience and ran very smoothly. The programme was *just* challenging enough (including a great folk song arrangement by Cecilia Macdowell, who subsequently got in touch with us, which was exciting and a piece in Papiamento, the native language of Aruba).
I am hopeful that this will lead onto other international engagements. In case you know anyone who is looking...!
