Second lesson with Phil yesterday. We were looking at my Phrygian Mode exercise, which had turned into a short (16 bar) piano and cello piece. We focussed on how to extend my initial ideas into something longer and more developed. This has always been a sticking point for me - how do you take "Da-Da-Da Daaah!" and turn it into over 7 minutes of music?! I know how you do it theory, of course, but when faced with your own little ideas it all becomes a tad more challenging.
