Without question my best purchase were these - 157 beautiful printers blocks (luckily I took a spare bag for the journey home...). They are covered in ink and I'm not sure if I've even got a full alphabet but I don't care. They are just gorgeous and I can't wait to start messing around with them!
I was given a signed copy of this book by Raymond Choi (founder of HK’s Tallis Vocalis) last summer, and as books that are ‘right up my street’ go, it’s up there. The chapter ‘Performing Polyphony’ is probably the most valuable to me, and I’ve dipped into it several times since first reading it. Such a wonderful way of reminding myself what the Big Picture is, rather than getting caught up in minutiae of rehearsals (which I still do). It’s a master class on my bookshelf in ho
Met with Phil Tudor last night to discuss how my composition lessons might pan out. I have decided the time has come to do something about the enormous holes in my listening repertoire... so here's the plan: From September, I'm going to dedicate each week to an album I SHOULD have heard by now. I'm thinking AC/DC, I'm thinking Jethro Tull, I'm thinking The Who, I'm thinking Siouxsie Sioux and the Banshees, I'm thinking a lot of things (mostly excluding Classical). Not sure how I'll order them - a month of Prog Rock? Alphabetically? Size of Hair Do? Hmmm. #li
